Our 10yo daughter came into the bedroom this afternoon while I was working napping and said, "Mama! Look!" I sleepily looked her way and became alert very quickly. She was holding a glass full of water upside-down, with only a piece of paper (!) keeping the water inside the glass. She went into great detail explaining what makes the paper keep the water in the glass.
Our 10yo had just watched a video experiment in the membership area of the website of scientist Robert Krampf. She said, "That is my new favorite scientist!" as she dashed off to watch another experiment, especially excited that most of them don't require anything more than household items to conduct.
When I finally got up from my desk bed, I found our 5yo daughter and our 8yo son kneeling on the floor with a laptop in a chair (I know!), intently watching Mr. Krampf explain how to tell how far away lightning is.
Our 12yo son, above, who will be 13 next week (sob!), also enjoys Krampf.com. He likes unusual things, and enjoys shows like Myth Busters, so Krampf's Cabinet of Curiosities was the most interesting area of Krampf.com to him, where he learned that a coral-looking object found on a Florida beach was actually ..... hmm, I don't know if I should give that away.
I'm glad that they were all so excited about science today. Learning this way is fun!
This is a giveaway that I'm enjoying hosting, as I truly think it's such a great item. Plus, we have...

There are a lot of freebies at Krampf.com, including free experiment videos, such as one called Making Butter, which we featured on this site last week. There is also a free weekly science e-newsletter, which our children have been enjoying for the past few years. The science experiments nearly always are created from easily found household objects.
Just this year, Krampf.com opened the new website, including a members-only area. Which brings me to the....
